The Caribbean Forum of the ACP States (CARIFORUM) has awarded a Service Contract for Technical Assistance for the project 9 ACP RPR 006 “Support to the Competitiveness of the Rice Sector in the Caribbean”. The team leader is George Murray together with Graham Garrod are both now in Guyana. Dr. Bouwe Grijpstra is based at Nickerie in Suriname. They can be contacted at the CRA office. cardigy@guyana.gy

It is a project of the Caribbean Rice Association executed by Caribbean Agriculture Research and Development Institute in Guyana with the responsibility to promote the welfare of its members and develop the rice industry within the region.

| Advertisement for Drainage works for Region 2 - sábado, 22 de julio de 2006The Government of Guyana, Ministry of Agriculture together with the European Commision under the EU/CARIFORUM Project (RPR 006) for the Support to the Competitiveness of the Rice Sector in the Caribbean has launched a local contract notice for execution of the Water Management Works.
The amount allocated for Water Management Works is 3.2 million Euros. It comprise two works contracts, one is for the rehabilitaiton of the Dawa Pump and the other for the repalcement of the sluices of the Westbury and Golden Fleece, Essequibo Coast, Region 2. |
| RPR 006 - Monday, May 29, 2006 - lunes, 29 de mayo de 2006The European Community has committed the total amount of EURO 24.000.000 in support to the Caribbean Rice Sector to enhance its competitiveness and efficiency. This programme has an implementation date of November, 2008 and an execution date of September, 2010; and will be implemented through six identified components:
- Technical Assistance
- Water Management
- Research and Extension
- A Financing Facility
- Market expansion, and
- Integrated and Strategic marketing
