The Caribbean Forum of the ACP States (CARIFORUM) has awarded a Service Contract for Technical Assistance for the project 9 ACP RPR 006 “Support to the Competitiveness of the Rice Sector in the Caribbean”. Caribbean Rice Industry Development Network
CRID Net is an Organization representing (seventeen) 17 countries within the Caribbean. It is a project of the Caribbean Rice Association executed by Caribbean Agriculture Research and Development Institute in Guyana with the responsibility to promote the welfare of its members and develop the rice industry within the region.

The amount allocated for Water Management Works is 3.2 million Euros. It comprise two works contracts, one is for the rehabilitaiton of the Dawa Pump and the other for the repalcement of the sluices of the Westbury and Golden Fleece, Essequibo Coast, Region 2.
The European Community has committed the total amount of EURO 24.000.000 in support to the Caribbean Rice Sector to enhance its competitiveness and efficiency. This programme has an implementation date of November, 2008 and an execution date of September, 2010; and will be implemented through six identified components:
